Family Time: Easter Eggs

My mama is the oldest of 6 sisters, so every holiday there is always something going on and we have made some very fun traditions!

Around Easter time there is one tradition I just LOVE!! Dinner and coloring Easter Eggs. The night we dye eggs we also have a strange meal. I've always thought it to be weird, but this year with a couple new friends joining in on the fun I was reminded how weird it is: Mashed Potatoes and Chicken Noodle Soup. Yeah the combo is weird and even weirder is that my family puts the soup over the potatoes. I have never liked the soup but everyone else LOVES it! Christian even requests this meal other days of the meal. I guess my mom's grandma used to do it for them so it just continued as a tradition when my mom and her sisters had kids.

On top of our weird meal we color eggs. And when I say eggs, we usually have at least 16 DOZEN to do-- what can I say? Our family is huge!! We have to take shifts.

Typically we use Paws brand dye but this year my mama also used just a homemade dye this year, and everyone perfered those colors over the name brand dyes.

Check out my blog here to find out how we did it.

Every year we also put our names on an egg. FAMILY TRADITIONS RIGHT? I also ALWAYS make a Utah State egg every year because I love Utah State and it makes me happy. Christian had to work so he couldn't do eggs with me but I made some for him. Instead of our names this year I decided to go along with the song Don't Stop Believin'  by Journey, because how fitting is that? I love our eggs this year. How stinking cute?

Who Used All the Black Crayon?

Guys, I am used to about 14 views each post. That's it (which is weird, because I post every blog link to my family's Facebook group and there are 40 of us in there... Thanks guys!). I was not expecting that many hits on one post, but I got it, and it has sparked a lot of conversation that I feel to be very productive. I have been so honored by the respect I have been given from those who’s opinions differ from mine, and the dialogue we have been able to have on the matter of race in today's society. Some of the best conversations have come from the, "But why?" question. But why is that offensive? On Facebook I shared this Vox link , so I won't get into that, but I do want to take some time to talk about taking offense. Life is a collection of experience. After one is written into our book, the next experience will be affected because of it. In kindergarten, I had a true Corrina, Corrina experience in class, when someone asked, "Who used all ...

lets play some football... players!

football is such a wonderful sport, but the whole... humm what do i call it? playing the football players? yeah thats a good call... the whole "Playing the football players" game is a whole other story! so i'm sure they have a million girls... so i call it karma. but lets get down to the story! so i have met quite a few ballers since i have been down here (and never when i catually got ready for the day!) and i have a few of theri phone numbers and a few of them have mine! it is a magical time because it is just sooo funny to see them get excited... (i have a rather large group of frosh that go to lunch and dinner with me now so they can just see these boys faces!) "i'm a magician!" so, there has been funny stories of how we have all met and we have all clearified that i am a mix! ... because really boys i look full?!?!? it's the silliest pick up line (my pick up line is i like your shirt?! i dont know.... but it works!) anyways... so last night at dinn...

A Little Birdie Shower

I am so in love with this little girl, I mean how could you not be? Look how adorable she is? I may be a little bias, but my niece is the cutest in the world. Not only is she the cutest, she is also quite possibly the most spoiled little girls in the world.  And has been even before she was born.  I've been meaning to post pictures of the shower I hosted for my little sister way back at the beginning of March, but hey, life happens.  The nursery is decorated in little birds, and my sister had asked me to make a couple things she had found on Pinterest for her, so I figured I would just tag team and couple the theme of the shower with the theme of the nursery. That way everything could be reused and nothing went into the garbage.  I made 4 different invites, but de decided in this one to send out. How cute and classy is it? Love.  Baby Girl has a huge family! So we knew we needed to host the shower at the church. Our family events usual...
