Independence Day

There once was a ward of chickens that were not going to church. Bishop Chicken went to the stake president, President Eagle, and told him of the problem in the ward. President Eagle told Bishop Chicken to get everyone to church that week and he would teach them what they needed to know. So everyone from the whole ward came to church (then some went home but the auxiliary leaders were there to collect them again) and President Eagle taught them to fly. First he taught them exercises to strengthen their wings, they could then go up in the air, but couldn’t land because their legs were too short. Then the stake president taught them stretches for their legs, and they could then fly and land. After the closing prayer they ward members were walking home and got hit by a truck. What can we learn from the chickens of the ward? Audra: that the chicken shouldn’t have crossed the road.

Our family got the opportunity to feed the missionaries on the fourth of July. We had Hawaiian haystacks and they were so yummy. Then the missionaries got to share a spiritual message, and decided to share this story with us. We are supposed to learn to apply what we learn in church to our everyday lives, the chickens should have flown across the street. That was fun.

Before we went to my grandma’s house we went to Payton’s house for a little bbq. I love being with that side of the family. They are soooo funny and entertaining, and I love them a lot. Tony made yummy food as usual and Payton burnt the chicken (just the way I like it).

Our family went to the fourth of July parade together that morning. Rachel had a unicyclist (I think his name is Mike Holtrum) jump over her, and Danielle showed the Play and Trade guys her best Guitar Hero moves and won a $5 gift card.

After that, Camille, Danielle, Rachel, Carla, and I went to Gold’s before Rach and I went to Payton’s. We had a lot of fun and got an okay work out. Carla taught us a lot of the rules of her workout which helped us. Then we went and showered and went our own ways.

After dinner at Grandma’s I went up to Allison’s house. I got to her house just as the storm of the century hit. It rained/hailed HARD for a good 2 hours. There was a river going down Satterfield. It was wet! When the rain stopped we went down to the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks with all our friends.

I then went to Audra’s to be with the Quad (which includes Jordyn p.s.) and we just chatted it up until bed time (well bed time for everyone but Rachel! Haha).

I LOVED THE FOURTH OF JULY!

Who Used All the Black Crayon?

Guys, I am used to about 14 views each post. That's it (which is weird, because I post every blog link to my family's Facebook group and there are 40 of us in there... Thanks guys!). I was not expecting that many hits on one post, but I got it, and it has sparked a lot of conversation that I feel to be very productive. I have been so honored by the respect I have been given from those who’s opinions differ from mine, and the dialogue we have been able to have on the matter of race in today's society. Some of the best conversations have come from the, "But why?" question. But why is that offensive? On Facebook I shared this Vox link , so I won't get into that, but I do want to take some time to talk about taking offense. Life is a collection of experience. After one is written into our book, the next experience will be affected because of it. In kindergarten, I had a true Corrina, Corrina experience in class, when someone asked, "Who used all

PSA: You Didn't Win Halloween & Neither Did I

Last night my social media feed was filled with photos of friends attending their weekend parties in their Halloween costumes. There were a couple families and friend groups who were the cast of Napoleon Dynamite, a hilarious couple who went as their dogs, Curious George and the man in the Yellow Suite, and even Tess and Emily Tyler (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen from Billboard Dad). People are so creative when it comes to Halloween costumes! I am so not! But then I saw a couple’s costume I was so unbelievable uncomfortable with. alloween It was on Snapchat. Two people, one had painted himself brown to depict a character, a “hero” from a TV show we all watched in high school. Not just face painted, but arms, neck, chest. Then they added the chains. This, to that couple was a costume, but this also has a name, and that name is “blackface”. Minstrel shows started in the mid to late 19 th century, where white actors would paint their face to depict blacks on stage. The acto
